Mayor Cain was born and raised in Hahira. He is married to Billie Allen Cain and they have one son Alan and a beautiful granddaughter, Addison. Mayor Cain retired from the City of Valdosta Engineering Department with 36 years of service. Mayor Cain served as a City Councilmember from January 2008 until August 2013. He brings with him his in-depth experience in municipal budgets, infrastructure construction, building renovation and new construction. His goals are to (1) Give the citizens the very best in public safety by ensuring our Police and Fire Departments have the most modern equipment necessary to fulfill their duties, (2) Put into place an I&I program repairing our sewer infrastructure, and (3) Implement a Downtown Development Authority to help preserve our Historical Downtown.

Mason Barfield
Council District 4 & Mayor Pro-Tem
Mason was born and raised in Hahira and after graduating from Lowndes High School (LHS), he received both a Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education from Valdosta State University (VSU). Mason worked for the family LP Gas Distribution business in Hahira from 1976-1982 before pursuing a career in high school and college education and athletics. He served as a teacher and coached at LHS from 1982-85, Lassiter High School in Marietta from 1985-88, and two years as an instructor, coach, and assistant administrator at Kennesaw State University. Starting in 1989, he spent 21 years building a new NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic program as Executive Director of Athletics at Clayton State University in Morrow. During his professional career, he served in the Rotary Club of Clayton County, the Clayton County Tourism Authority, and as a City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem on the City Council of Morrow. He also served two terms as the President of the Georgia Athletic Conference and served as Clayton State University’s Liaison to the Georgia Paralympics Committee during the 1996 Paralympic Games. Mason retired from full-time employment with the University System of Georgia in 2011, and currently works in a part-time capacity with the Department of Athletics at VSU. Mason resides in his home town of Hahira and serves as a City Councilman. He is married to the former Elizabeth Biles from Bemiss, GA and have three children, Josh, Ryan, and Jesse, and three grandchildren, Mason, Kinley, and Lillian.

Tree Board
The Tree Board consists of local volunteers to advise the city on tree-related issues and area beautification initiatives. The Hahira Tree Board was formed by the Hahira Mayor and City Council in the early 1990s to regulate the planting and maintenance of trees in public places and improve the general welfare of the citizens by promoting informed management of the city's urban forest.

The Tree Board is a key component of Hahira's status as a Tree City USA. This is a national program that provides the framework for community forestry management for cities and towns across America. Communities achieve Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management. These four core standards are:

Communities achieve Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management. These four core standards are:
- Maintaining a tree board or department
- Having a community tree ordinance
- Spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry
- Celebrating Arbor Day
Greater Lowndes Planning Commission
The Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC) is a governmental agency setting the framework of the area’s physical and socio-economic planning. The GLPC is responsible for land use and environmental review, preparing plans and policies, and providing information to and advising the various municipalities and agencies on issues relating to the macro-scale development of the area.
Mission
The mission of the GLPC is to look beyond short-term solutions in planning for the future of the Greater Lowndes community; to imporove the public health, safety, convenience and welfare; and to provide for the social, econoimc and physical development of communities on a sound and orderly basis, within a governmental framework and economic environment which fosters constructive growth and efficient administration.
Members
The GLPC is a joint advisory board, comprised of ten (10) citizen members of various backgrounds, appointed by the elected officials of each governing body within Lowndes County.
The GLPC Regular Meetings are held the last Monday of each month at 5:30 PM in the South Health District Office Conference Room at 325 West Savannah Avenue Valdosta, Georgia. Work Sessions are held the second to last Monday of each month at 5:30 PM at the same location. These meetings are open to the public.

Jonathan Sumner
City Manager
Jonathan Sumner was hired as City Manager for the City of Hahira in 2006. Prior to this, Sumner served as a Project Developer for the Southern Georgia Regional Commission for seven years, bringing over $15 million in grant and low-interest loan dollars to the cities and counties of South Georgia and, at any given time, administering over 100+ different economic development projects. Sumner obtained his Masters of Public Administration and Bachelors of Business Administration degrees from Valdosta State University. After marrying in 1999, he and his wife Jennifer moved to Hahira in 2003, and reside here with their son, Michael, and daughter, Lena.

Carol Royal
Finance Director
Carol joined the City of Hahira in April 2017 as the Finance Director. She works directly with leadership to ensure sound financial management and is responsible for budgeting, accounting and payroll. Prior to coming to Hahira, she was the Human Resource Manager at the Southern Georgia Regional Commission for 18 years.

Lisa Mashburn
City Clerk
Lisa came home to the City of Hahira as City Clerk in October 2011. Prior to this, she worked for the City of Remerton as their City Clerk for five years and recently received her certification from the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

Victoria Ingram

Victoria was added to the City of Hahira family in August of 2014 as the Public Works Administrative Assistant and Finance Clerk.
